I want to put a dinosaur fossil replica near a plant shelf without making the desk look cluttered. Would a dark tray, a clear acrylic stand, or a small wood riser make the details easier to see?

For fossil decor, a low shelf with indirect light usually shows the texture better than a glossy cabinet. I would avoid a damp spot because labels and backing boards can warp.
